* - Models with 280mm long air filter, this belt will not fit models with the 375 mm air filter.

** - note that early Foresters can have either the EJ20J engine or the EJ202 engine.  The timing belts are different, so please ensure you are ordering the right one.  The easy way to tell is to measure the length of the air filter.  If the filter is 280mm long it is the EJ20J and you need this timing belt.  If the filter is 375mm long your engine is the EJ202 and you need the other SOHC timing belt (1998 on).
